Since the early 1900s, the nation has dedicated days and months for specific underrepresented communities whom have faced much discrimination in the country. Therefore, one method of embracing UNLV's commitment to nurture equality, diversity, and inclusivity is through identity months/weeks which correspond with the national cultural months/weeks. Working collaboratively with UNLV student organizations, faculty and staff, each identity month/week offers to educate and celebrate our nation, our campus, and ourselves.
Students Organizing Diversity Activities (SODA) is a student programming council responsible for the planning and implementation of programs recognizing cultural , heritage, and awareness months (Latin@ Heritage, LGBTQ+ Pride, disAbility Awareness, Native American Heritage, Interfaith Awareness, Black History, Women's Herstory, Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage, Middle Eastern Heritage, Social Class Exploration, and Racially and Ethnically Mixed Awareness).
